Boots, the pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer, has added TRIP CBD oils to the range of over 60 CBD products which it stocks. TRIP oils will be sold in around 400 of Boots’ 2,200 stores, and online.
The brand is already sold by leading UK retailers: Selfridges and Liberty sell its oils, Sainsbury’s and Harvey Nichols its drinks, and both lines are retailed by Holland and Barrett.
The oils which Boots is now stocking are in two flavours, at two strengths: TRIP CBD Oil Wild Mint & Chamomile 300mg and 1,000mg, and Orange Blossom and Chamomile 300mg and 1,000mg. According to a company statement, consumers primarily use TRIP products for stress-relief.
A spokesperson for TRIP describes this as a time of “rapid growth for the brand, which is now available in over 7,000 stockists globally, including an exclusive CBD partnership with Soho House Group, and a recent partnership with The Hoxton hotels in London, to offer a fully TRIP branded staycation.”
“TRIP…counts Christian Angermayer as a strategic investor, who Dragon’s Den panellist Steven Bartlett dubs ‘Europe’s Elon Musk’, alongside Maria Raga, Depop’s CEO.
“The brand has recently launched into North America too, with its direct to consumer business, as well as with the Soho House Group and leading health and wellbeing retailers like Erewhon. As part of the US launch TRIP was a lead sponsor of Coachella Soho Desert House.”
TRIP was founded in 2019 by married couple Olivia Ferdi and Daniel El Khoury, and they draw on their personal experience of trying CBD in the marketing on the TRIP website. “We found CBD in 2018 when weeks before our wedding, Dan was injured playing football and needed knee surgery—nightmare. Told he wouldn’t be able to walk down the aisle, we tried everything. He discovered CBD oils were a real game changer—he finally found some calm and got a good night’s sleep at last. Against the odds, Dan made an incredible recovery and was last man standing on the dancefloor! We then started using CBD oils for those smaller everyday stresses…loving the results but hating the bitter taste. Our passion for CBD grew, eventually leaving careers in finance and law (sorry mum) to launch TRIP.”
Miss Ferdi is the lawyer, and has made “regulatory compliance a key priority for the brand”. In the latest version of the Food Standards Agency’s public list of CBD products, updated today, TRIP Drinks has 11 products listed as ‘awaiting evidence’, and therefore able to stay legally on sale in the UK.
Miss Ferdi welcomes the new partnership with Boots: “Today, more than ever before, the public are recognising that mental health is intrinsic to overall health. Our mission has always been to share some calm in the everyday chaos, and partnering with Boots is an incredible step towards helping more do exactly this. Boots only works with brands that ensure the highest quality of products and we’re looking forward to building this partnership over the long term.
“Fostering positive conversations around mental health and changing perceptions of daily wellbeing is so important to us, and this new retailer will help us to take the next step towards helping people integrate wellness into their daily lifestyle.”
